Ketaki Mategaonkar Celebrates 50 Years of Ganpati Bappa Tradition at Home!

The singer and composer honors a half-century family legacy started by her grandfather.

MUMBAI — For singer and composer Ketaki Mategaonkar, Ganesh Chaturthi carries a profound personal milestone this year as her family marks 50 years of bringing Ganpati Bappa home for the full 11-day festival. The cherished tradition was originally established by her grandfather, a skilled Ganpati sculptor, before being passed down to her father and now to Ketaki.

Despite a demanding professional schedule, Ketaki makes it a priority to return home each year to participate in the rituals and uphold the long-standing family heritage.

Reflecting on the milestone, Ketaki Mategaonkar shared: “I feel truly blessed to be carrying forward a tradition started by my grandfather and continued by my father. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome Bappa home every year. This 50-year journey is very special for our entire family, and I feel grateful to be a part of it.”

The 50th anniversary highlights the family’s deep-rooted artistic and spiritual bond with the festival, continuing a legacy that spans three generations.
