“Prosperity Isn’t Only About Money”: DJ Rink Reflects on the True Meaning of Dhanteras, Gratitude, and Musical Abundance!

From holding an MBA in marketing to establishing herself as a powerhouse in the music world, DJ Rink’s path has been fueled by relentless drive and passion. Spanning a 20-year career with over 2,400 stage shows across more than 20 countries, she stands as one of India’s most successful female DJs, having carved her distinct identity in a male-dominated field. This Dhanteras, the artist opens up about the deeper spiritual essence of the festival, her personal buying rituals, and why real wealth extends far beyond material riches.

Talking about what the festival means to her, DJ Rink says, “Dhanteras means a lot to me. It’s a reminder to pause and be grateful for what the year has given me, and to welcome in more of the same. Prosperity isn’t only about money. It’s about good health, good people, and the energy to keep creating. I feel festivals like these give us an opportunity to take a break from our busy schedules and appreciate the little things that often go unnoticed. For me, it is also about being thankful for the journey so far and looking forward to new experiences.”

Sharing whether she believes in the tradition of purchasing something on Dhanteras, she says, “I do believe in the tradition. Marking the day with a purchase feels like setting an intention. For me, it’s usually something small and meaningful, like a bit of gold or silver, or something that goes back into my craft, whether that’s gear for my music or something for my home. Whatever I buy, I want it to carry good energy. I don’t think the value of the purchase matters as much as the thought and feeling behind it. It’s about welcoming positivity and abundance into your life.”

Talking about her plans for the occasion, DJ Rink adds, “We do a puja at home. And since music is my life, I will also be thinking about what I want to create in the year ahead.”
