‘Ramayana’ Shatters Records with Mind-Boggling ₹155 Crore Worldwide Opening, Becoming the Biggest Pre-Diwali Day 1 Opener Ever!
Defying the traditional pre-Diwali box office lull, the epic delivers a historic opening, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
The wait is officially over as Ramayana made a monumental theatrical entry, rewriting box office history from day one. Helmed by director Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra (Prime Focus Studios) alongside Rocking Star Yash (Monster Mind Creations), Ramayana: Part One hit screens globally on November 5, 2026, to unprecedented fanfare. Headlined by a stellar cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Rocking Star Yash as Ravana, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, the cinematic spectacle has successfully brought India’s sacred epic to moviegoers across the globe.
Making a remarkable start at the global box office, Ramayana has collected a staggering ₹155 crore worldwide gross on its opening day, emerging as the highest Day 1 Pre-Diwali opener in the history of Indian cinema.
For years, the pre-Diwali period has been considered a challenging window for theatrical releases, traditionally associated with a slowdown in box office business. With families occupied with cleaning, renovating and decorating their homes, shopping for festive preparations, and travelling ahead of the holidays, cinema-going usually takes a backseat. Prior to Ramayana, the highest opening for any film in the pre-Diwali window stood at an all-India net collection of ₹40 crore on Day 1. And Worldwide gross was 94Cr.
However, Ramayana has rewritten the narrative, overcoming the traditional pre-festive lull with an extraordinary opening. The film’s phenomenal audience response saw theatres witnessing strong footfalls right from the early morning shows, translating into a historic start at the box office.
With the Diwali festive period still ahead, Ramayana’s record-breaking opening sets the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary box office journey.
