RKD Studios has officially unveiled the first musical offering from their upcoming cinematic spectacle #Mahakali, delivering an electrifying and soul-stirring rendition of the revered devotional anthem ‘Aigiri Nandini’. Rooted deeply in India’s spiritual heritage and honoring the sacred verses composed by Adi Shankaracharya, this powerful new version celebrates the fierce strength, divine grace, and unyielding energy of Maa Kali. Boasting commanding vocals, rich traditional instrumentation, and an immersive cinematic soundscape, the track breathes fresh intensity into a timeless classic that continues to captivate devotees across generations.
The release comes amid growing excitement around Mahakali, particularly following the tremendous response to Akshaye Khanna’s powerful war cry teaser, which was released earlier. His commanding screen presence and intense delivery struck an instant chord with audiences, sparking conversations and building anticipation around the film. Carrying that momentum forward, ‘Aigiri Nandini’ offers a different yet equally powerful glimpse into the world of Mahakali. While the earlier glimpse showcased the film’s intensity through Akshaye Khanna’s impactful presence, the song taps into the spiritual and devotional essence of its central narrative, bringing the divine energy of Maa Kali to the forefront.
Composed, programmed and arranged by Smaran Sai, the track features powerful vocals by Anila Rajeev, Geetha Madhuri and Sai Charan. The musical arrangement seamlessly blends traditional devotional influences with a grand contemporary soundscape, bringing together an impressive range of instruments, including veena, flute, guitars, piano, tavil and mridangam. Complemented by layered backing vocals and an expansive orchestral arrangement, every musical element adds to the song’s intensity, creating an experience that is both spiritually evocative and musically powerful. Part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), Mahakali takes forward the filmmaker’s vision of bringing Indian history, cultural heritage and rooted narratives to life through ambitious cinematic storytelling. Following the success of Hanu-Man, which laid the foundation for the cinematic universe and established its distinctive storytelling approach, Mahakali promises to take the universe into another compelling dimension. Directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, the film features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sriya Reddy, Khushbu Sundar, Bhoomi Shetty, Rohit Saraf, Rakesh Bedi, Jitin Gulati, Rajat Kapoor, Murali Sharma and Nassar, among others.
