Aamir Khan Productions’ BATWARA 1947 stands out as one of the most eagerly awaited cinematic projects of the year. Right from its official announcement to the release of its captivating initial poster and moving teaser, the period drama has built up huge anticipation among moviegoers. Framed against the chaotic landscape of India’s Partition, Batwara 1947 tells a deeply human story centered around love, sacrifice, and endurance. In a major development ahead of its theatrical debut, the film has now secured a censor clearance from the CBFC with zero cuts.

BATWARA 1947 has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts, according to sources. With the censor certification, the film is now set for its scheduled theatrical release on August 14, 2026.

The film is based on a Mohajir family that crosses over to Lahore and occupies an abandoned Hindu home. The narrative is centered on Hindu elderly woman who refuses to leave the house and the issues that arise between the Mohajir family and her.

BATWARA 1947 stars a stellar ensemble cast featuring Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh and marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, BATWARA 1947 is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on, Partition Day, August 14, 2026.
