Amit Sarin seldom dwells too much on the future or the past

The first few months of the lockdown were the most challenging as thousands of migrant workers were forced to walk back to their native villages. Producer-actor Amit Sarin says that he felt so helpless at not being able to help them. “The most disappointing moment of 2020 was to see thousands of people walking back home during the lockdown and some not being able to make it even after walking for days with no food. It was so sad to see fathers carrying their children and youngsters carry their aged parents on their shoulders. To see them walk in the scorching heat, with barely anything to eat or drink was so sad. I wish I could have done a lot more to help them,” he says.

Amit, who will soon be seen in the film Between Mountains, directed by his wife Vineesha, made sure to spend a lot of time with his family during that time. “A memory that I made this year and will cherish it forever is a camping trip with my family to a few national parks, which eventually transformed to shooting for Between Mountains during the lockdown. To be able to shoot during this time will always be my biggest achievement of this year,” he says.

Ask him how to kept himself busy when he was not shooting, and he says. “I started meditating. I had been doing it for a while, but I was never sure of the right approach to it. I perfected myself in this and now I am very regular. Also, my wife Vineesha is a superb cook and I really enjoyed everything cooked by her. We also spent a lot of time in nature.”

Talking about the future plans, he says, “I believe in setting goals. But I also make sure not to dwell too much on the future or the past. I try to consciously bring my attention to this ‘moment’ as that is the only thing I have in hand.”
