Animation Offers a Canvas with No Boundaries,” Shares S. S. Rajamouli on Expanding the Universe with ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’!
The globally acclaimed Baahubali franchise, known for its two monumental blockbusters Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, stands tall as one of the most definitive and celebrated cinematic milestones in Indian history. Embraced by audiences worldwide, this epic saga has evolved far beyond cinema into a massive cultural phenomenon. Following its historic box office triumphs, the legendary saga is now preparing to venture into uncharted territory with Baahubali: The Eternal War, a highly anticipated project whose recently dropped teaser has already ignited immense global excitement.
While S. S. Rajamouli presented Baahubali: The Eternal War at 2026 Annecy Animation Film Festival in work-in-progress presentation, he shared, “We started writing so much about it, and in the process of creating those worlds and creating those characters, we created many instances which were as dramatic or more dramatic than the scenes in the film itself”
“Indian mythology is so rich in its vivid descriptions about characters of other worlds,” Rajamouli said. “Animation is the only place where you can do justice to that description. Ishan was the person we were rating for to take ‘Baahubali’ to the next step.”
Baahubali: The Eternal War is a two-part animated epic directed by award-winning filmmaker Ishan Shukla. The teaser of Part 1 has already been released, and the film is slated for release in 2027.
