Anushka Luhar Gears Up for Hindi Cinema Debut With ‘Tum Mere Ho’

The actor, who first stepped into Telugu cinema with Chakkora, is now expanding her multi-industry portfolio with contrasting roles.

Mumbai — Actor Anushka Luhar is gearing up for her much-awaited Hindi feature film debut in #TumMereHo, slated for a theatrical release on October 23 alongside Gurmeet Choudhary and Isha Malviya. Having previously made her mark in the Telugu film industry with Chakkora, Luhar is actively broadening her cinematic footprint by embracing multifaceted roles that showcase her versatility as a performer.

In Tum Mere Ho, Anushka plays Nisha, a bold, glamorous, self-assured woman who knows exactly what she wants. Describing her character as a woman with a strong personality and a distinct sense of authority, Anushka says, “Nisha is this sexy, hot siren who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She’s bold, commanding, and unapologetically herself. She likes things done her way and definitely has that boss-woman energy about her. I’d say she’s the woman who drives everyone in the film a little crazy!”For Anushka, landing the role was an exciting milestone. She was approached through a casting agent and went through multiple rounds of auditions and readings before meeting the film’s director, Ashish, and co-star Gurmeet. A few days later, she received the confirmation that she had been selected for the role.

Recalling the experience, she shares, “Tum Mere Ho has been special to me in so many ways, but most importantly, it marks my big-screen debut, and I got to play a character that was incredibly exciting to explore as an actor. It was such a special feeling when I got the call that I had been selected for the role. I’m really grateful that I got to be a part of this film and bring this character to life.”Sharing screen space with Gurmeet and Isha has also been a memorable part of the experience.

Speaking about her co-stars, Anushka says, “Sharing screen space with Gurmeet and Isha has been such a fun roller-coaster ride! They both bring such youthful, vibrant energy to the set, and we’ve shared a lovely chemistry as co-actors. Gurmeet, in particular, has been incredibly supportive, both as an actor and as the producer of our film. He’s genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve come across, and he made me feel so welcome throughout the process.”Beyond the professional experience, Anushka says the film has also given her friendships she will cherish. “More than just a wonderful working experience, I feel like I’ve come away from this film with some truly lovely friendships, and that’s something I’ll always cherish,” she adds.

Her journey across industries has already given her the opportunity to explore contrasting characters. In Chakkora, her Telugu film debut, Anushka plays Koumudini, a simple and sweet classical dancer from Vizag whose innocent and endearing personality stands in stark contrast to Nisha’s glamorous, assertive persona in Tum Mere Ho. Talking about the difference between the two roles, she says, “Nisha and Koumudini are two characters who are worlds apart, and that’s what makes playing them so exciting for me. Nisha is a glamorous, hot siren who’s a complete boss woman, runs her own business, and knows exactly what she wants. Koumudini, on the other hand, is a simple, sweet classical dancer from Vizag who falls head over heels in love with the hero and has a very innocent, endearing presence.”

She adds, “They’re such contrasting personalities, and I’m really happy that audiences get to see these two completely different sides of me as an actor. Exploring such diverse characters is what makes acting so exciting, and I hope this gives people a glimpse of my versatility as a performer.”

Anushka has previously appeared in projects across film and digital entertainment, including the web series It Happened in Calcutta (2020), State of Siege: Temple Attack (2021), Babli Bouncer (2022), Dr. Arora (2022), Taj: Divided by Blood (2023) and Bad Newz (2024).
