By Ronnie Rodrigues

Mumbai: India’s recent T20 defeats against , coming soon after a disappointing loss to Ireland, have reignited a serious debate about the direction of Indian cricket. While isolated defeats are part of sport, repeated failures on overseas tours point towards structural issues that require urgent attention rather than temporary fixes.

One of the most debated concerns is the nature of pitches in the India. Over recent seasons, several venues have consistently produced flat batting surfaces with short boundaries, making totals of 220, 250 and even 300 increasingly common. Such high-scoring contests undoubtedly entertain fans, but they often reduce bowling to mere survival instead of allowing an even contest between bat and ball.

Cricket legends #SachinTendulkar and #SunilGavaskar have repeatedly emphasized that the game is at its best when pitches provide equal opportunities for both batters and bowlers. A healthy balance not only enhances the quality of cricket but also prepares players for the varied conditions encountered in international competitions.

The consequences become evident whenever India tours countries where pitches offer seam movement, bounce and assistance to fast bowlers. Batters accustomed to dominating flat IPL tracks suddenly struggle against disciplined bowling attacks. Rather than adapting to changing conditions, many continue with the same aggressive approach that succeeds in franchise cricket, often resulting in dramatic batting collapses.

India’s batting has increasingly relied on explosive starts instead of constructing partnerships and adapting to match situations. Young talents such as #VaibhavSooryavanshi possess exceptional potential, but expecting teenagers to shoulder the responsibility of winning international matches consistently may be unrealistic. Also he should adapt to the conditions and should not bang-bang only batting. Similarly, experienced campaigners like #ShreyasIyer, #TilakVerma, etc have occasionally failed to convert promising starts into match-winning innings, raising questions about consistency, technique and temperament rather than ability.

Selection policies have also become a subject of public debate. Many cricket followers believe that #SanjuSamson has not received the sustained backing that several other players have enjoyed. Frequent omissions after one or two failures, while others continue despite repeated poor performances, create uncertainty and can affect a player’s confidence at the highest level.

The team management must also accept its share of responsibility. Constant experimentation with batting positions, frequent player rotation and the absence of a settled playing combination have prevented India from building stability. The world’s most successful international teams identify their core group, support them through difficult phases and allow combinations to develop over time.

India’s bowling has also faced challenges. Bowling on batting-friendly IPL pitches often forces bowlers into defensive strategies focused on limiting damage rather than taking wickets. As a result, many bowlers receive limited exposure to conditions that reward discipline, movement and sustained attacking spells—skills that become essential in overseas cricket.

The defeats against Ireland and England should be viewed not as reasons for panic but as an opportunity for introspection. India continues to possess one of the deepest talent pools in world cricket. However, talent alone cannot guarantee sustained international success. Better pitch preparation in domestic tournaments, balanced player selection, stronger backing for deserving performers, and greater emphasis on adaptability rather than power-hitting are essential for long-term success.

Franchise cricket is built on entertainment, and there is nothing wrong with thrilling crowds through big hitting. Yet international cricket demands a wider range of skills—technical excellence, patience, adaptability and resilience. Unless Indian cricket restores the balance between entertainment and preparation, IPL success may continue to conceal weaknesses that are exposed whenever India faces strong overseas opposition.

The time has come to ask a difficult but necessary question: Is Indian cricket preparing players to dominate the IPL, or preparing them to dominate the world?

Cyber Criminals Are ‘Parasites’: Supreme Court Sends Strong Message Against Cyber Fraud.

By Ronnie Rodrigues

New Delhi: In a significant observation highlighting the growing menace of cyber crime in India, the Supreme Court has described cyber fraudsters as “parasites” who prey upon innocent citizens and siphon off crores of rupees through phishing links, fake banking portals, and other online scams.

Refusing to grant bail to an accused allegedly involved in a cyber fraud racket exceeding ₹3 crore, a Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, and Justice Sandeep Mehta underscored the need for a stringent approach towards cyber criminals whose activities affect victims across the country.

While dismissing the bail plea, the Bench observed that cyber frauds are not confined to a single State or region but have nationwide repercussions.
Addressing the accused’s counsel during the hearing, #ChiefJusticeSuryaKant remarked:

“You guys (cyber fraudsters) are parasites”
who dupe investors of crores of rupees.

“With cybercriminals, we have to be very harsh”.
Your victims are always pan-Indians.

You cheat someone in Tamil Nadu,
and then you go to Jammu.

Society’s interest is only that you should be inside jail.

The Court observed that the accused allegedly exploited technological platforms and digital banking systems to commit offences that undermine public trust in online financial transactions and digital payment ecosystems.

According to the prosecution, the fraud involved the use of fake banking portals, phishing links, mule bank accounts, and SIM cards allegedly procured using forged documents. Investigators further claimed that the operation was part of a structured interstate network engaged in systematic laundering of fraudulently obtained funds.

The petitioner sought bail on grounds of prolonged incarceration and parity with a co-accused who had previously been granted bail by the High Court. However, the Delhi Police strongly opposed the application, contending that the accused was the mastermind behind the racket and had allegedly remained absconding for several months before his arrest.

Taking note of the investigation findings, the Bench observed that the allegations disclose a well-organised criminal enterprise involving multiple layers of deception and financial manipulation.

The Court further remarked:

“Economic offences like these are premeditated
and cause deep harm to society.

They stand on a different footing from other crimes.”

Rejecting the contention that delay in trial should justify release on bail, the Supreme Court held that the gravity of the allegations and the wider societal impact of cyber fraud outweighed such considerations. At the same time, the Court directed the trial court to expedite the proceedings and endeavour to conclude the trial within one year.

The ruling sends a strong message against cyber crime and reinforces the judiciary’s growing concern over the rise of sophisticated online frauds that target unsuspecting citizens across India.

The post Cyber Fraudsters Are Parasites to Society: CJI Surya Kant’s Strong Warning to Cyber Criminals! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Mumbai: Madam Ashwini Bhide, you now hold one of the most powerful civic positions in Asia—an office that has long shaped not just the city’s growth, but also a system that quietly profits from its own permissions. This institution has, over decades, built a structure where approvals and violations coexist—one enabling the other in a continuous cycle.Today, Mumbai watches you closely—not because the system is unknown, but because there is a rare belief that someone might finally acknowledge it.

There is a growing sense that this moment could mark a shift from silent acceptance to visible accountability.

Step into the city—not through reports or meetings—but on the ground, early in the morning when reality is most unfiltered.
Observe firsthand how everyday life exposes the gap between planning and lived experience.

In areas like Andheri, Vile-Parle, Santacruz, Jogeshwari, Tilak Nagar, Ghatkopar, Dadar, and Goregaon, residents exit newly redeveloped towers only to face a basic problem—no legal place to park.

Despite owning homes and vehicles lawfully, they are pushed into inevitable violations due to lack of infrastructure.

They circle their neighborhoods repeatedly until compulsion replaces choice, eventually #parking outside their own buildings.

Soon after, enforcement arrives with precision, issuing fines as part of a routine that repeats daily.

Now widen the lens.

Look beyond individuals to the structures themselves.

These buildings, symbols of urban progress, house hundreds in conditions that resemble vertical congestion rather than planned living.

Inside, parking is insufficient; outside, roads are already overburdened by vehicles and encroachments.

Shift focus again—to documentation.
Across Mumbai, numerous buildings remain without #OccupancyCertificates.

These are not hidden irregularities but developments approved, constructed, sold, and occupied under full institutional awareness.

Yet, residents who have fulfilled every financial obligation are told their compliance remains incomplete.

Instead of accountability, they are asked to pay further to regularise what was already permitted.

At this stage, inefficiency gives way to a structured sequence:

Permission → Construction → Partial compliance → Regularisation → Payment

A loop that sustains itself.

What is striking is not just the existence of this cycle, but how deeply it has been accepted as normal governance.

It reflects a system that functions seamlessly, yet produces inequitable outcomes.

The civic body enables density without ensuring livability.

Enforcement agencies act on consequences without questioning their origins.

Responsibilities remain divided enough to avoid blame, yet aligned enough to ensure revenue flows.

In the middle stands the most predictable participant—the middle-class citizen.

Documented, traceable, compliant.

Easily penalised, yet least equipped to resist.

Meanwhile, contradictions remain visible.
Police vehicles occupy public roads—the same spaces where citizens are fined.

Police stations themselves lack parking infrastructure, relying on public roads just like residents.

Yet enforcement rarely turns inward.
Encroachments persist openly, narrowing roads while remaining officially unacknowledged.

#Illegalhoardings on light poles and across entire streets—used by politicians as well as private individuals—continue to dominate public spaces without consequence.

The law does not collapse here—it selectively applies itself.

The pattern becomes clear.

What cannot be supported is approved, what should be prevented is ignored, and the burden of consequences is shifted onto citizens.

Parking fines become routine, regularisation becomes policy, and compliance becomes transactional.

Gradually, governance transforms into a system of revenue collection.

And with that, frustration evolves into awareness.

Citizens now recognise that the same system that sanctioned their homes questions their legality.

They see that the constraints imposed on them are later used to penalise them.

They understand that accountability rarely moves upward—it settles downward with precision.

And this recognition changes the equation.

Inconvenience can be tolerated.

Chaos can be managed.

But sustained, predictable, and institutionalised injustice erodes trust.

It weakens belief in the very system meant to serve.

Mumbai’s middle class has endured decades of inefficiency with resilience and compliance.

But resilience has limits, and compliance cannot survive without fairness.

The city does not need more committees, policy notes, or enforcement announcements.

It requires something far more fundamental—a break in the pattern.

A clear shift where consequences are not punished while causes remain protected.

A system where accountability moves upward to those who approved, overlooked, and designed these structures.

Because the issue is no longer just planning or enforcement—it is misalignment.

Every part of the system performs its role, yet the outcome remains unjust.
And that is more dangerous than inefficiency.

Inefficiency invites correction—but a system that works against its citizens invites resistance.

You now stand at a point where this trajectory can still change.

You can either manage the symptoms or confront the structure itself.

You can allow the system to continue unchallenged—or make it visible enough to question.

Because if change does not come from within, it will eventually come from outside.

And when it does, it will not follow procedure.

It will not be predictable.
It will test the system’s limits—
and it will be far harder to contain.

Mumbai: In an unexpected turn of events, two lawyers have reportedly come forward to represent #MohammadSharifulIslamShehzad, the accused in the attack on #Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Shehzad, a #Bangladeshi national, was arrested by Bandra Police on January 18 while allegedly attempting to flee to his hometown.

Shehzad, who is suspected of residing illegally in India, has sparked debate following the swift arrival of legal counsel. Questions have arisen regarding the identity of these lawyers and the circumstances under which they were engaged. Who sent them to defend Shehzad? How were they able to act so quickly? Could this point to a larger international conspiracy?

Legal experts and authorities are urging a comprehensive investigation to uncover any underlying networks or connections that may have facilitated the attack or the accused’s representation. The involvement of a foreign national raises concerns of organized elements, potentially extending this case beyond an individual crime to a matter of broader security implications.

This case continues to unfold, with investigators seeking answers to the questions surrounding Shehzad’s legal defense and his actions leading to the attack.

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16th, 2025. The Bandra Police have since arrested the main accused, identified as 30-year-old #MohammadSharifulIslamShehzad, a Bangladeshi national who had been working in India under the alias Bijoy Das.

The accused was apprehended on January 18th while attempting to flee to his hometown in Rajabaria, Jhalokathi, Bangladesh. Police officials confirmed that Shehzad had entered India illegally and was employed at a housekeeping staff in a hotel under a false identity.

According to the complaint filed by Eliyama Philip, a 56-year-old staff nurse employed at Saif Ali Khan’s residence, the incident occurred around 2-3 AM on January 16th. Philip, who was sleeping in a room with Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s four-year-old son, Jehangir, and another housemaid, Junu, noticed an intruder in the room. The intruder was armed with a wooden object and a hexa blade, and he demanded money.

When the staff screamed for help, Saif Ali Khan intervened but was stabbed multiple times by the attacker, who then fled the scene. The actor, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to a nearby hospital and is reportedly recovering.

The Bandra Police registered the case under complaint number 85/2025. Multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been invoked, including Sections 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6), and 331(7). Additionally, charges under the Foreigners Act, 1946, including Sections 3(A) and 6(A), and the Prohibition Act, 1948, have been added, given the accused’s illegal entry into India.

The case was solved under the leadership of senior police officials, including Commissioner of Police Shri Vivek Phansalkar, Special Hon. Commissioner of Police Shri Deven Bharti, and Joint Commissioner of Police Shri Satyanarayan Chaudhary. The investigation involved multiple teams from various enforcement departments, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 9 Dixit Gedam and ACP Paramjit Singh Dahiya.

Mumbai: In the realm of customer service, one principle has long stood the test of time: “The customer is always right.” Unfortunately, it seems that some companies have lost sight of this key value—British Airways being a glaring example. With international travel from India on the rise, airlines are expected to place the comfort and well-being of passengers at the forefront. After all, these passengers are the lifeblood of the industry, funding operations and salaries. However, recent events involving #BritishAirways suggest that such priorities may be slipping, as evidenced by the distressing experience of Mr. Ronnie Rodrigues on flight BA 138 from Mumbai to London on September 16, 2024.

Mr. Rodrigues, a frequent flyer who often travels with large groups of family, friends, and office staff embarked on what was supposed to be a celebratory trip, a tradition he has maintained since 2020. On this occasion, he was accompanied by 28 individuals, including his four young children, a couple highly placed bankers, a lawyer, a travel agent and a couple of reputed journalists from the print and digital media. Unfortunately, the flight quickly turned into a troubling ordeal, marked by rude and unprofessional conduct from British Airways staff.

As Mr. Rodrigues assisted in seating his group, a flight attendant—conspicuously without a name badge—abruptly instructed him to take his seat, completely ignoring his polite attempt to clarify the situation. When Mr. Rodrigues responded in kind to the attendant’s rude tone, the situation escalated, with the captain of the flight, Captain Kelly, being summoned to intervene.

Rather than de-escalating the situation, Captain Kelly took an aggressive stance. He threatened to deboard Mr. Rodrigues. He was told that he’ll have to deboard Mr Rodrigues’ entire group which included the 28 people who Mr. Rodrigues had generously sponsored. Despite this threat, it appears Captain Kelly quickly reconsidered, likely weighing the financial implications of such an action for British Airways. However, instead of resolving the issue amicably, he imposed a highly unprofessional penalty—denying Mr. Rodrigues food and drink for the entire flight. As a result, Mr. Rodrigues endured the lengthy journey without any sustenance, an unacceptable treatment by any standard.

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushes for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a cloud of controversy envelops the political landscape. Critics question the timing, speculating on the strategic advantage it may offer the government in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, the implications extend beyond political gains, raising concerns about the long-term consequences and financial burdens on Indian taxpayers.

“DISADVANTAGES OF CAA” EXAMPLE VIDEO

https://www.cinebuster.in/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/WhatsApp-Video-2024-03-14-at-12.28.09-AM.mp4

The CAA’s focus on granting Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants from neighboring countries until 2014 sparks debates about potential shifts in deadlines and the economic strain on society. With India facing high population density and increasing unemployment, importing additional individuals becomes a potential burden on various fronts, including housing, food, clothing, and employment opportunities.

While the CAA selectively includes Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians from specific countries, it excludes Muslims, leading to accusations of ‘dirty politics’ by opposition parties. As the nation grapples with internal challenges, the argument questions the wisdom of absorbing migrants when essential demands cannot be met domestically, potentially exacerbating inflation.

The issue extends beyond economic concerns, delving into national security worries. With Pakistan historically considered an adversary, granting entry to individuals from there raises apprehensions about the safety of the nation. Fears of espionage and infiltration by individuals posing as non-Muslims add a layer of complexity, emphasizing the potential risks to the entire country’s security.

Mumbai: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has expressed serious concerns about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), portraying it as a potential threat to national security and the job market in India. According to Kejriwal, the BJP-led government at the Centre is unable to generate employment opportunities for Indian citizens but is willing to provide jobs to children from Pakistan through the implementation of the CAA.

Kejriwal questions the rationale behind the CAA, emphasizing that the government’s intention to grant citizenship to minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan could have significant implications. He raises a crucial point about the lack of clarity on how employment would be provided to the refugees who might seek shelter in India due to the open-door policy outlined in the CAA.

Moreover, Kejriwal alleges that government funds could be utilized to settle Pakistani individuals in India, expressing skepticism about the motives behind such actions. He points out that in the mentioned countries, there are approximately 2.5 to 3 crore minorities, and once India opens its doors, a substantial number of people might migrate, raising questions about the employment opportunities available to these refugees.

Kejriwal’s remarks on the implementation of the CAA extend beyond economic concerns to include political considerations. He suggests that some people view the CAA as a strategic move for garnering votes, implying that it might be a part of vote bank politics rather than a well-thought-out policy with the nation’s best interests at heart.

CAA कानून पर दिल्ली के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री @ArvindKejriwal जी की Important Press Conference l LIVE https://t.co/SPm9mz4YLh

Furthermore, the Delhi Chief Minister draws attention to the specific impact of the CAA on the northeastern state of Assam. He contends that the BJP’s decision to open India’s doors for residents of Pakistan and Bangladesh poses a danger to the country, especially for states like Assam. Kejriwal asserts that Assam’s cultural identity is under threat due to the influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh, and the BJP’s willingness to grant citizenship to these migrants is viewed as a betrayal by Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In summary, Arvind Kejriwal’s statements underscore a multifaceted critique of the CAA, encompassing concerns about national security, economic repercussions, and the preservation of cultural identity, particularly in states like Assam. These remarks reflect a broader debate and ongoing discussions surrounding the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act in India.

Mumbai: The political landscape heated up on Monday as the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharadchandra Pawar accused the Narendra Modi government of using the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as a strategic diversion from the ongoing electoral bonds controversy.

The Centre’s announcement to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, marks a significant development four years after the contentious law was initially passed. The CAA aims to provide citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, specifically benefiting Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians.

Clyde Crasto, the national spokesperson for the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP, asserted that the timing of the CAA notification was not coincidental. He claimed, “The CAA notification is a spin by the @BJP4India led government to take the attention away from the Electoral bonds issue.” This accusation raises questions about the government’s motivations behind the sudden implementation of the controversial citizenship law.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court added another layer to the unfolding drama by rejecting the State Bank of India’s plea for an extension of time. The court directed the bank to disclose the details of electoral bonds to the Election Commission by the close of business hours on March 12. A five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, further instructed the Election Commission to publish these details on March 15.

The rejection of the plea intensifies the spotlight on electoral bonds, which have been under scrutiny for their potential to facilitate anonymous political funding. The simultaneous unfolding of the CAA implementation and the electoral bonds controversy adds complexity to the political narrative, raising questions about transparency, diversion tactics, and the intersection of governance and electoral finance.

As the nation awaits the disclosure of electoral bond details and assesses the implications of the CAA implementation, the intertwined issues continue to shape the political discourse, inviting scrutiny and demands for accountability from various quarters.

Mumbai: The Supreme Court, on March 11, rejected the State Bank of India’s (SBI) application for a time extension to comply with the court’s previous directive to disclose electoral bonds details. The court emphasized that the necessary information is already available with the bank and instructed the SBI to reveal the details by the close of business hours on March 12, 2024.

This development transpired less than a month after the Supreme Court, through a constitution bench, declared the electoral bonds scheme unconstitutional. The bench directed the SBI to submit details of electoral bonds purchased since April 12, 2019, to the Election Commission of India by March 6. However, the SBI sought an extension until June 30, citing the complexity of processing data from bond sales.

During the hearing, Senior Advocate Harish Salve highlighted the challenge of reconciling donor and redemption details stored in separate silos. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud clarified that the court’s directive was for disclosure, not a matching exercise, emphasizing the bank’s possession of necessary details, including KYC records.

Despite the SBI’s explanation of siloization difficulties, the court suggested a simple solution: opening a sealed cover to collate and furnish the details. Salve acknowledged having purchaser details but cited difficulties in matching them with bond numbers and mentioned some information was physically stored.

Chief Justice Chandrachud questioned the SBI’s progress silence since the February 15 judgment, expecting candor. The court dismissed SBI’s extension plea, stating its submissions indicated the information’s availability. The SBI is directed to disclose details by March 12, 2024, and cautioned about potential consequences for non-compliance.

The court ordered an affidavit from SBI’s chairperson and managing director, indicating compliance. While refraining from contempt proceedings, the court warned of possible action for wilful disobedience.

Additionally, the Election Commission of India was directed to compile and publish information by March 15, 2024, based on details provided in a sealed cover in November 2023.

Background:

On March 7, Advocate Prashant Bhushan sought an urgent hearing for a contempt petition against the SBI, accusing deliberate defiance. ADR and Common Cause contend SBI’s extension request is ‘mala fide,’ aiming to obstruct transparency before the Lok Sabha elections. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also filed a contempt petition.

The Supreme Court’s constitution bench on February 15 deemed the electoral bonds scheme unconstitutional, directing the immediate cessation of issuance. The SBI was instructed to submit bond purchase details since April 12, 2019, by March 6. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud delivered the lead judgment, while Justice Khanna provided a concurring opinion. The court warned of potential contempt proceedings if the SBI fails to comply with the indicated timelines.
