Mumbai is known as City of Dreams. And since it’s the centre of entertainment industry, glamour attached to it attracts hoards of youngsters across the nation to try their luck in it for fame, money and adulation. There are ‘Filmy’ families, families having connection with the entertainment industry, members of which have an easier access to pursue acting as a profession. In short they do not have to go through ‘struggle’ as such. But there’s a guy with the connections with a filmy family who came to make it big in Mumbai isn’t interested in being in front of the camera despite having good looks. Rohandeep Singh is the young guy who has what it takes to be a ‘Hero’ in films, still isn’t one bit interested in acting, though being in the profession of films.
Rohandeep Singh hails from the outskirts of holy place Haridwar, Uttarakhand and his family is involved in film exhibition business. Owners of multiple theatres in an around the region and metro cities, Rohandeep Singh pursued Mechanical Engineering and decided to join family business. But he was inclined towards creativity, thought of diversifying and zeroed in on Distribution and Marketing areas of the movies. With the family blessings he landed Mumbai, about a decade back, and joined Mr Anil Thadani, ace film distributor who is married to Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon, and within couple of years gained experience in film distribution. Then he was with Mahesh Bhatt with whom his family has good professional relations, which encouraged him to foray into film production.
This young entrepreneur, Rohandeep Singh, floated a company named ‘Jumping Tomato Marketing Pvt Ltd’ and has become a name to reckon with in a short span. His production house is named ‘Sibhbali Entertainment’. Rohandeep’s first co-production was Short Cut Romeo and after foraying into television he co-produced a serial Hitler Didi. Later he released Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan which was solely presented, produced, distributed and exhibited by his company. In Uttarakhand it was Tax-Free.
He is not less than a seasoned player in the field of business of entertainment. Some of the noted Hollywood and Bollywood movies distributed were Khap, Bumboo, Rajdhani Express, Listen Amaya, Shortcut Romeo, What The Fish, The Legend of Michael Mishra, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Raees, Death Wish, Love Sonio, Godzilla 2, Notebook, Troy The Odussey, Jumamji : Welcome to the Jungle, Final Exit etc. He has joined hands with Hansu Pictures in Delhi, UP and East Punjab region and continues exhibiting movies.
He is in the process of producing and presenting a couple of ‘Big’ hindi films and has acquired rights of a few Marathi films. In the first quarter of 2021, Rohandeep Singh of Jumping Tomato Marketing Pvt Ltd has started releasing films in theatres. His recently theatrically released film ‘Peter’ is liked by both the critics and the audiences. Marathi comedic actor Prathmesh Parab starrer ‘Oh My Ghost’ too is getting a theatrical release. Rohandeep Singh’s company grabbed headlines with the new reality show ‘100 Days In Heaven’, which is adventures show shot in the picturesque locations in Uttarakhand. The shooting of the show’s Mumbai schedule has already been completed and soon major portions of it will be shot in Uttrakhand.
His company wants to focus on right content, right casting and accordingly gets connected with the projects. For the last one and half years Rohandeep has started backing Marathi films. He has presented more than half a dozen Marathi film till date, WhatsApp Love, Brij Vajabaki, Dome, Miss U Miss and Peter to name a few and his next presentation is ‘Oh My Ghost’ which is a horror comedy. He thinks that he owes a lot to this city of Mumbai and that’s the reason he keeps connected with Marathi movies because they possess great content and he has gratitude towards Mumbai, which allows him to pursue his dream of becoming an ace film producer, distributor.
People know about Rohandeep Singh’s business of cinema but there is creative side to him too. In 2015, he published his first novel ‘Still Waiting For You’. This novel was well received and was lauded by experts. He is planning to publish his second novel titled ‘Majnu Mastana’ in June 2021.
Rohandeep Singh, though in business which involves commerce, gives importance to humanity and believes in good human beings and praying for good mental condition. He has a “Pahadi Routine’ of early to bed and early to rise, despite being in Filmy environment and staying in Mumbai which never sleeps.
