India’s cross-over star Huma S. Qureshi is not just a foodie but has a family legacy of the largest and most popular Mughlai restaurants in Delhi – Saleems. Hailing from Delhi, Huma’s father Saleem Qureshi has been running this popular chain of restaurants in the capital since 1977. The Mughlai chain is a favourite for all and her father has been a pioneer of taking Mughlai food to the world. He has been an inspiration to various chefs both nationally and internationally. The interesting thing which happened recently was how Huma recently met celebrated chef Vikas Khanna at a hotel in Mumbai and the two had an interesting conversation about her father and his contribution to Indian cuisine.

Present at the restaurant, soon after Chef Khanna learnt about the actress’s presence, he prepared a special meal as per her diet and even-handed over his autographed cookbook to her as a gift for her father. Vikas further mentioned to the beauty that he’s keen to meet her dad who’s one of the pioneers of Mughlai food in India.

Huma posted on social media saying, ” Bumped into the amazing @vikaskhannagroup yesterday who not only made me the most amazing healthy salmon salad but gifted me a copy of his wonderful book. Thank you for your kind words about my dad and @wearesaleems and the legacy .. made me super proud and happy although he misspelt my name😜 It’s fine chef , the only name that matters is Saleems”

Other celebrated chefs and food critics have time and again praised Qureshi’s dad and his food chain. Recently on twitter Popular journalist Vir Sanghvi along with television producer Siddhartha Basu were seen discussing the yummy Saleem’s kebabs that they have been savouring over the years.
