“If I Were To Do Comedy, It Had To Be Their Style”: Sandeepa Dhar On Making Her Comedy Debut With ‘Chumbak’!

Actress Sandeepa Dhar is set to present an all-new side of her acting craft in the upcoming series Chumbak, marking her maiden foray into full-fledged comedy. Expressing her excitement about the project, the actress shared that entering the genre alongside creators Aatish Kapadia and Jamnadas (JD) Majethia fulfilled a long-standing career ambition.

Speaking about her experience, Sandeepa said, “It’s absolutely true that I have never done out-and-out comedy before, especially not this kind of comedy. However, I had always felt that if I were to do comedy, it had to be the kind of comedy that Atish and JD create, and I feel incredibly fortunate that I got exactly that.”

For Sandeepa, Chumbak is not just an opportunity to explore a new genre but also a chance to understand and present comedy in a fresh and distinctive way. She is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the show.

Elaborating further, she said, “I’m very happy that they brought me on board for Chumbak, and of course, thanks to Netflix for backing a project like this. Personally, if I talk about Atish and JD sir, I have always loved their previous shows as an audience member. Especially as a millennial, I was looking forward to watching something like this myself. So, I’m genuinely very happy that I got to be a part of it.”

What makes Chumbak particularly exciting for Sandeepa’s fans is the opportunity to see her in an entirely new avatar as she ventures into comedy for the first time.
