Actor #ManishRaisinghan has been in the entertainment industry for about two decades. He rose to fame with a serial #SasuralSimarKa and recently he, after a short hiatus, starred in #NimaDenzongpa. Now he is ready to rock the big screen as his debut film #KahaniRubberBandKi is releasing soon. Manish spoke to Mr #KeertiKadam during the promotions of the film.

‘I always call for a ‘one line’ before asking for script or narration. If I like the one line then I go ahead. This time around too, when I was looking out for a good subject for my debut movie, I asked for the one line, when the makers of Kahani RubberBand Ki approached me. I liked it and later I was impressed with narration too. But since the director Sarita Sanjyot was a debutant director I wanted to be doubly sure about he capabilities of taking things forward. But sensing her passion for film making I was sure that I was in good hands. The movie showcases a societal problem. But the treatment given makes it utterly entertaining. Again, we have taken care not to be preachy at all. It’s a fun film which could be enjoyed with the entire family”, Manish was talking passionately.

While speaking about his leading lady, Balika Vadhu fame Avika Gor, he said, “In fact, earlier someone else was doing this role but she opted out last minute. We were looking out for female lead and many actresses were approached. Avika and me are good friends and I did not want to recommend her name because it could have termed biased. But after a while Sarita mam asked me whether Avika will be able to do this role? I said I can speak to her and that’s how Avika came on board.”

Manish feels that’s today’s audience has evolved and since they are exposed to the content across languages and countries they have become more choosey. “I feel there has been distinctive cinema made in each decade. Seventies belonged to angry young man and revenge, eighties’ movies had family entertainment, nineties we saw romantic movies and in 2000 to 2010 films were made on country’s socio-economical problems and societies issues. 2010 onwards it looks like a golden period where viewers are indifferent to star power and only back good content. I feel lucky to be debuting around this phase in Indian cinema. But I too want to do ‘Hero’ centric roles. ‘Meri film Kahani RubberBand Ki haste khelte entertain karti hain’. I am very positive that people will appreciate this film”, concluded Manish Raisinghan.
