Jio Studios’ and Nagraj Manjule’s Khashaba teaser out!

A grand sports drama based on the inspiring life of Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, the first individual Olympic medallist for independent India
Mumbai, 2 July 2026: Jio Studios and Atpatt Productions today released the teaser for the much‑anticipated film Khashaba on social media and officially announced that the film will premiere in cinemas worldwide on 1 January 2027.

After a string of hits such as Dhurandhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Raja Shivaji, Jio Studios has delivered another ambitious production. Following acclaimed films like Fandry and Sairat, director #NagrajManjule returns with a large‑scale, inspirational story in Khashaba.
The teaser, which premiered in theatres to an enthusiastic audience response, is now available on digital platforms. It powerfully captures the grandeur of the traditional wrestling arena, striking visuals, an intense mood, emotional grit, and the film’s cinematic scope.

Set against the backdrop of newly independent India, the film tells the story of a determined wrestler from Maharashtra. It traces the extraordinary life of Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, who overcame extreme hardships to win the bronze medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics — a historic achievement that etched his name in Indian sports history.
Khashaba depicts the inspiring journey of Maharashtra’s son and legendary wrestler Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, who brought the first individual Olympic medal to independent India by clinching bronze at the 1952 Helsinki Games.

Realizing this proud chapter of Indian sport on the big screen, the film aims to be one of the largest regional sports dramas to date.
Music for the film is composed by the celebrated duo Ajay‑Atul. A new face has been selected to portray Khashaba; the casting announcement will be made soon. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Jitendra Joshi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Girish Kulkarni, Sandeep Kulkarni, Sandesh Kulkarni, Suresh Vishwakarma, Vaibhav Mangle, Chhaya Kadam and Gargi Kulkarni.

Khashaba is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Gargi Kulkarni and presented by Jio Studios and Atpatt Productions. The film is directed by Nagraj Manjule.
Khashaba is set to release in cinemas worldwide on 1 January 2027.
