As the team officially launches its multi-city promotional campaign, lead star Sunny Deol has arrived in Jaipur, staying at the heritage landmark Rambagh Palace, bringing a deeply sentimental, full-circle moment to the fore.

Decades ago, when Rajkumar Santoshi was looking to launch his directorial career with Ghayal, he narrated the legendary script to veteran icon Dharmendra at this very same location, Rambagh Palace. Dharmendra went on to produce the film, which turned out to be an all-time classic, solidifying Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi as one of the most formidable director-actor duos in Indian cinema. Now, almost three decades later, the promotions for their reunion project Batwara 1947 have officially started from the exact same setting where their glorious journey together first took root.

Recalling those nostalgic memories in a video recorded at Rambagh Palace, director Rajkumar Santoshi shared, “Hum yahan 87, June-July ki baarish mein… Dharm sir se mile the aur wahan se hamari Ghayal ki journey shuru hui. Aaj wapas yeh woh shubh jagah hai jahan se shubh kaam shuru hua.”

Sunny Deol echoed his sentiments, reflecting on how special it is to return to the location that started it all. Taking to his social media, Sunny shared an emotional post writing, “Some journeys come full circle in ways you can never plan. Years ago, I believed deeply in a script written by a young Rajkumar Santoshi. We tried taking it to producers, but no one was ready to back the film. That was when I decided to take it to Papa. Papa was shooting for Batwara in 1988 in Jaipur and staying at Rambagh Palace. Raj gave him the complete narration of Ghayal, and the moment it ended, Papa said yes. More than the film, what stayed with me was how proud he was that I had recognised and stood by such a powerful story. That faith became Ghayal.
