Mrunal Thakur Expresses Joy as Marathi Film ‘Gondhal’ Earns India’s Official Nomination for the Oscars!
Indian cinema has reached another significant landmark! The Marathi feature ‘#Gondhal’ has been selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars, sparking widespread pride and celebration across the film fraternity. Joining the wave of appreciation, actress Mrunal Thakur took to her social media handle to celebrate Gondhal’s Oscar selection and showered warm praise on director Santosh Davakhar for this impressive achievement.
“Marathi cinema at the Oscars! What a moment of pride. Congratulations Santosh Davakhar sir and the entire team of Gondhal,” she penned on her social media handle.
Earlier, Gondhal also earned a significant recognition at the International Film Festival of India. Its official entry at the Oscars not only brings with it glorious pride but also marks a milestone for Marathi cinema at the Academy Awards. The film was selected from a list of 33 contenders, with P Seshadri serving as the chairperson of the selection committee. Now, Gondhal becomes the fourth Marathi film to be chosen as India’s official Oscar entry, following ‘Shwaas’ (2005), ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ (2009) and ‘Court’ (2015).
And Mrunal Thakur’s sweet note for the film and its team simply reflects the linguistic union that Indian cinema is all about!
