Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Assembles Over 10,000-Person Crew!

Ramayana is fast being hailed as 2026’s most ambitious cinematic spectacle, generating huge excitement across the globe. Directed by #NiteshTiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in partnership with Oscar-winning DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, the film is being developed as a two-part global epic on an unprecedented scale.
The production’s most striking feature is its size: more than 10,000 crew members are reportedly working on the project, making it the largest team ever assembled for an Indian film. Departments from production design and costumes to action choreography and visual effects have expanded to international proportions, with talent flown in from around the world to help build the film’s sprawling universe.

Top global technicians and specialists have been brought on board to ensure the picture meets international benchmarks. Employing cutting-edge technology, massive physical sets, detailed world-building and complex logistical planning, Ramayana is being positioned as a landmark event—designed to be experienced rather than merely watched.
While Indian cinema has produced many large-scale spectacles, this level of production ambition is without precedent. The film aims to reshape how mythological narratives are translated to the big screen and could establish a new standard for large-format filmmaking in India.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, in association with eight-time Oscar winner DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part epic will release in IMAX globally — Part 1 at Diwali 2026 and Part 2 at Diwali 2027.
