The first Marathi OTT platform ‘Planet Marathi’ was announced with the aim of spreading Marathi content to the Marathi audience around the world. The main purpose of the digital release of this ‘Planet Marathi’ is to give the experience of ‘First Day First Show’ on a digital platform. Ever since the announcement of ‘Planet Marathi’, many big names are getting associated with it. After the announcement of entertainment veteran Amit Bhandari’s participation in ‘Planet Marathi’, the entertainment company Vistas Media Capital in Singapore also joined hands with ‘Planet Marathi’. While Planet Marathi is becoming a powerful planet, now another name has been added to it. Oscar juror Ujjwal Nirgudkar has also joined this ‘planet’.
Ujjwal Nirgudkar is the first Indian to be invited by Oscar Academy in 2017 and join the technical department (Members at large). Ujjwal Nirgudkar has been instrumental in bringing Oscar President John Bailey to India in 2019 and paving the way for global recognition for Indian cinema. Ujjwal Nirgudkar, who has dedicated his life to cultivating art heritage, technology and art on a global scale, will be an asset to Planet Marathi. He will be working as a consultant to take Marathi content, talent and filmmaking to the next level. He has received numerous fellowships for his work in preserving, restoring, and translating great works of art, and has been the recipient of national and international awards. He has taken Marathi as well as Hindi films to the world level. With the able collaboration of Ujwal Nirgudkar, Planet Marathi’s dream of bringing ‘Marathi’ to the world stage not only as a language but also as a developed medium of entertainment is being realised.
