Rajat Kapoor reportedly joins Akshay Kumar’s Samuk; actor said to be playing a pivotal role!

Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Samuk is continuing to build an eclectic ensemble, and acclaimed actor-filmmaker Rajat Kapoor is the latest name to come on board the sci-fi action thriller.

According to sources, Kapoor is set to play a pivotal role in the Kanishk Varma directorial, which is being produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures and co-produced by Aashin A. Shah. The film, currently underway with its UK shooting schedule, is being mounted as a large-scale theatrical spectacle combining science fiction, action, military realism, and survival elements.

Kapoor is widely recognized for bringing an assured nuance and intelligence to his performances. Over the years, he has moved fluidly between character-driven cinema and mainstream Hindi releases, earning critical acclaim in projects such as Monsoon Wedding, Bheja Fry, Kapoor & Sons, Mulk, Drishyam 2, and Gehraiyaan. Recently, Kapoor was featured in the ensemble of Netflix’s Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders and was seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga.

Speaking on the casting development, a source close to the project noted that Kapoor brings a distinct screen presence: “Rajat brings a very different quality to the ensemble. He has the ability to deliver an assured performance which amps up the movie, and that is important for a film like Samuk. The role has significant weight within the narrative, and the makers felt he was the right fit.”

Kapoor’s addition brings together dynamic performers with varied acting styles around Akshay Kumar. The film also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after 12 years, following their previous collaborations on blockbusters like Namastey London, Waqt: The Race Against Time, and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.

While the production team has maintained tight confidentiality regarding individual character arcs and plot specifics, Kapoor’s inclusion adds further weight to an intriguing and diverse cast.
