The JioHotstar series, created and produced by Rajkumar Hirani and directed by Avinash Arun, is reportedly in early negotiations for a Korean remake in the wake of its widespread acclaim.

An independent industry source reveals, “Following the overwhelming response to Rajkumar Hirani’s Pritam and Pedro, a Korean production house has reached out to the makers to acquire the remake rights. The project is currently in the discussion stage, with both sides exploring the possibility of adapting the story for Korean audiences.

While the conversations are still at a preliminary stage and nothing has been officially locked yet, the development reflects the growing global appetite for Indian stories with universal themes. Industry insiders believe the show’s mix of emotion, humour and an engaging cybercrime backdrop makes it well-suited for adaptation across international markets.

Headlined by Arshad Warsi, Vikrant Massey and debutant Vir Hirani, Pritam and Pedro follows the unlikely partnership between an old-school cop and a young hacker as they navigate the world of cybercrime. The series marked Rajkumar Hirani’s first long-format streaming project as creator and producer, with Avinash Arun helming the show.

An official confirmation on the Korean remake is still awaited, but if the discussions move forward, Pritam and Pedro could become the latest Indian title to find a new life on the global stage.
