In a country like India most of the female patients prefer going to a female doctor for check ups despite the fact that most successful #Gynaecologists are #males. In #DoctorG this point is raised but subtly. In fact the film talk about a lot of lacunae in the societal #medicalpsychology, but without being preachy. The light hearted mood run through the arteries of this film which entertains the audience with medical humour. In fact the lead actor #AyushmannKhurrana has been dishing out socially relevant subjects in the most entertaining way. Here too he aces the role of PG medical student and delivers a restrained performance. Though in the film he loses ‘Male touch’, he never fails to lose the entertainment touch.

Dr Uday Gupta (Ayushmann Khurrana) is keen on being an Orthopaedic surgeon but his marks and medical rank doesn’t allow him so. To be close to his mother he opts to take up, reluctantly though, Gynaecology for his post graduation in Bhopal Medical College and Hospital. He is the solitary male in that department and is subject to ragging by his female classmate doctors. His senior Dr Fatima (Rakul Preet Singh) keeps pulling his leg but later they become friends. She is engaged to someone else but Uday wants her in his life. The department head Dr Nandini Shrivastava (Shefali Shah) is always annoyed with him as he keeps goofing up during the work. His journey from hating G i.e. Gynaecology to understanding and liking it is the crux of the story wherein the females around him help him lose his ‘Man Touch’ while treating female patients.

Doctor G’s script does have shortcomings but still it creates impact in storytelling. The untouched topics are raised with authenticity. it’s really funny at many places in the first half but the director (Anubhuti Kashyap) runs deep into drama in the second half where the film loses it’s grip. Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered a multi layered performance with ease and his subtle comedy is far more endearing. Rakul Preet Singh looks beautiful and delivers a smooth performance. Sheebha Chaddha plays Ayushmann’s liberated mother convincingly. Shraddha, Priyam Saha, Abhay Chintamani Mishr, Ayesha Kaduskar and Indraneil Sengupta provide decent support.

Doctor G entertains in parts and Ayusmann’s fans will love the film.
