YRF’s spy universe now brings #Pathan (#ShahrukhKhan), after Tiger (#SalmanKhan) and Kabir (#HrithikRoshan) which is extremely high on action. Shahrukh Khan returns to the big screen, after a long gap of four years, with six pack abs body and outlandish action scenes, a new territory for him. Despite lacking a powerful script, the star power of #SRK saves the film in a big way.
The movie starts in Pakistan, with a news of abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government. This irks the military chief there and he wants to take revenge and hires Jim (#JohnAbraham) who is an ex-RAW agents. He is irated because of the shoddy treatment offered to him by his department. An Ex-Army officer Pathaan (Shahrukh Khan) offers to take up undercover job to foil the enemy country’s malicious plans to destroy India. Long legged Rubai (Deepika Padukone) is an ex-ISI agent, traps Pathaan with her beauty and charm. Pathan-Rubai-Jim go globe trotting indulging in high octane action to fulfil individual tasks. How it happens is the crux of the story.
Talking about the story, it’s an old wine in a new fashionable bottle. Screenplay is pacy and throws fights with every ten minutes’ gap. Dialogues are massy and will be loved by each star’s fans. Music (Vishal-Shekhar) is good and both the songs are racy and are choreographed beautifully. Editing could have been sharper (runtime 146 min). Cinematography and production values are excellent and soothing to the eyes. Shahrukh Khan has done justice to his character and his bare chested scenes are ‘Seeti-Maar’ for his female fans. John Abraham shines as an antagonist and his well toned physique will inspire many. Deepika Padukone too shines in her action scenes and is always skimpily clad. Maybe the high budget of the movie compelled the production house to cut the budget of the costumes of Deepika, Shahrukh and John. Dimple Kapadia, as a boss lady, is convincing.
Pathaan is high on action and low on emotions and will be liked by SRK, John and Deepika’s fans.
