The horror genre is not widely used in Hindi films. #RamsayBrothers used to use horror in all their movies and some of them were superhits. Producer #ShrikantWalde, who happens to the body double of #ShahrukhKhan, has produced and debuted as an actor in #Prematur, which released in theatres this week, has used horror genre effectively with right amount of romance in it. The important part is that unlike many other horror films the director Sumit Sagar has not used sex as a weapon to lure audiences. He has kept the film clean and kudos to him for that.

The story of Prematur is about two couples of contrasting natures, Arjun – Pooja (Prashant Walde and Heta Shah) and Rahul – Sonia (Sriraj Singh and Kalyani Kumari). Arjun gets married to beautiful Pooja after falling in love with her instantly. He is immensely obsessed with her and dislikes if anyone made advances towards her. One of his college friends bumps into him and he flirts with Pooja. Pooja too likes the humorous banters but Arjun becomes suspicious and violently confronts her which results in her death. In he last moments she confesses that she always has loved only him. Repentantly he takes her body to his ancestral mansion and promises family’s ‘Kul Devta’ that he’ll offer some other girl’s head and asks for Pooja’s life in return. An another couple, Rahul and Sonia, rents their mansion. From the very first day they start experiencing strange things happening around them. Arjun keeps distance from them which irks them. Things go out of hand when Sonia gets possessed. What traspires then is the crux of the climax.

The story of Prematur is not novel but the screenplay keeps the audience engrossed. The horror quotient is greatly supported by excellent background music. Music too is good which depicts the romance between the two couples.

Cinematography is excellent which captures the many moods of the film. The art direction too is good. Sriraj Singh, Kalyani Kumari, Heta Shah and Prashant Walde have done a reasonably good job in acting department and others support them well. The director keeps the viewers involved as he is not predictable and the good editing job helps him.

Prematur is an entertaining film with the right amount of horror and romance.
