Sandeepa Dhar Credits Education and Mentors for Shaping Her Journey on World Students’ Day!

Marking World Students’ Day, actress Sandeepa Dhar opened up about the foundational role that formal learning, her parents, and her teachers have played in molding her worldview and personal growth. Looking back on her path, she emphasized how deeply education has influenced the individual she is today, alongside sharing her delight over the enthusiastic reception of her comedy series ‘Chumbak’ and the fresh creative avenue it opened up for her.

Speaking about the role of education in her life, Sandeepa said, “I think a lot of who I am today is thanks to education. My parents always made sure I received a good education. Even when I wanted to become an actor, they told me to complete my master’s degree first and then pursue whatever I wanted to do. I think that’s a very typical parental response!”

The actress also acknowledged the contribution of her teachers, schools and colleges in shaping her thought process and personality. Recalling her time at St. Xavier’s and Jamnalal Bajaj, she spoke about the privilege of learning from talented professors and being surrounded by educated minds. According to her, education goes beyond academic knowledge, as it also helps shape a person’s perspective, thoughts and personality.

Sandeepa believes that her parents encouraged her to pursue a good education while also giving her the freedom to follow her dreams. Her journey highlights how balancing education with one’s passion can help give life a new direction.

On the work front, Sandeepa is currently enjoying the love coming her way for her comedy series ‘Chumbak’, in which she plays Kiran Kejriwal. Having previously portrayed emotionally intense characters, the actress admitted that the audience’s response to her comic performance came as a pleasant surprise.

She said, “I’ve done emotionally intense roles in the past, and people have given so much love to Chumbak and my character, Kiran Kejriwal. I don’t know whether the surname had something to do with it, or whether it was the character itself! It’s always wonderful when something you’ve put so much effort into works out.”

Sandeepa revealed that she was initially surprised when directors Aatish Kapadia and JD chose her for a comedy, as she had never explored the genre before. However, both directors recognised her potential and trusted her to bring Kiran to life. The actress is now delighted to see the love the show is receiving, along with the memes and conversations surrounding it across the internet.

On World Students’ Day, Sandeepa’s thoughts serve as a reminder that education is not merely about earning a degree. It is also about developing one’s personality, broadening one’s perspective and gaining the confidence to make decisions in life. Her journey highlights how a strong educational foundation can help individuals pursue their dreams with greater confidence.
