On the complaint of social activist and head honcho of Indus Communications, Vivek Shetty, court of the metropolitan magistrate, Andheri has issued summons to director Ram Gopal Varma for his comments in the past against Lord Ganesha on twitter. A process was already issued earlier for the offence under section 295 (A) , 505 of Indian Penal Code and 66(A) of Information Technology Act. Ram Gopal Varma’s comments on twitter had ridiculed and poked fun at Lord Ganesha and thereby offended a large section of the Hindu community leading to a nationwide uproar. Vivek Shetty states “I am delighted by the summons issued by the honorable court, I will pursue this case to its logical conclusion and further I hope, this will go a long way in maintaining peace and harmony in society at large”
