Bhushan Pattiyal on Selecting Meaningful Projects: “Every Film You Sign Shapes Your Journey as an Actor”

Mumbai: Following the critical acclaim for his performance in Aakhir Palaayan Kab Tak, actor Bhushan Pattiyal reveals that the film created exciting new opportunities for his career. Although a steady stream of project offers followed its release, the actor chose to be selective rather than rush, remaining convinced that every role defines an actor’s artistic path.

Reflecting on his approach to filmmaking, Bhushan says that choosing a script goes far beyond accepting an opportunity.

After Aakhir Palaayan Kab Tak, I received many film offers, and I’m grateful for every opportunity that came my way. But I’ve always believed that selecting a film is one of the biggest decisions an actor makes. It’s not just about signing a project; it’s about choosing a story that becomes a part of your identity, he says.

The actor explains that despite the number of offers, he preferred to wait for stories that genuinely resonated with him.

Sometimes the content didn’t connect with me. Sometimes the character wasn’t challenging enough, and in a few cases, the overall setup didn’t feel right. That doesn’t mean those films weren’t good. They simply weren’t the right choices for me at that point in my journey, Bhushan shares.

Known for his thoughtful approach towards his craft, the actor believes that every decision an artist makes carries long-term creative and professional consequences.

As actors, we often get carried away by the excitement of receiving offers. But every film you sign becomes part of your journey and shapes how audiences perceive you. That’s why I believe it’s important to choose wisely rather than choose quickly. I’d rather wait for a story I truly believe in than become part of something just for the sake of being seen, he adds.

Bhushan also maintains that longevity in the industry comes from meaningful work rather than a lengthy filmography.

For me, it’s never been about the number of films. It’s about the impact of the stories you tell and the characters you bring to life. If audiences remember my performances years later, that will be my biggest success, the actor concludes.
