In today’s times of cut throat competition, even the students are not spared. Every students’ parents, especially in the cities and metros, want their ward to score maximum number of marks in the examinations like SSC and HSC etc. But no one seems to be bothered about the psyche of the students. No doubt, the parents want their children to have a good life in future and think that scoring maximum marks in competitive examinations could achieve that. But what exactly happens to the mental health of students? The same question has been addressed in an upcoming film, ‘#MeritAnimal’, produced by actress #ReenaJadhav. In fact Reena Jadhav has come out of sabbatical and will be making an acting comeback with the film.

Merit Animal revolves around a boy named Varun, Varun’s parents want him to score highest in all the examinations. A cycle racing competition is being organised on a hill on the outskirts of the city. Just as the race is about to begin, Varun disappears. On the other hand, Varun finds himself in a remote village. Varun has lost memory and the village sarpanch suggested that he stay in the village for a few days. The story of the film focuses on the serious problems in the education arena of our country. To fulfil parents’ dreams they put the burden of their expectations on them. Everyone wants to be the top in this race, but in the meantime children’s present childhood is ignored. The film has tried to show the two opposite faces of the education system in our country through this film, one being the competitive urban life and the other, rural hardship

Popular Marathi actress Reena Jadhav, who returns to acting after a long gap, will be seen in a very important role in a Hindi film Merit Animal.The film is based on the theme of increasing pressure on children in faring exceptionally good in examinations. Merit Animal has toured many international film festivals and has enthralled the audiences. It has bagged several awards including for best film and best director. Produced by Pradeep Deshmukh and Reena Jadhav, Merit Animals, has been produced under the banner of Rajarajeshwar Films and Mahalaxmi Cinevision. Directed by Junaid Imam, he is responsible for story, screenplay and dialogues too. The film’s music is composed by Rohit Nagbhide and the lyrics are penned by Vaibhav Deshmukh. Cinematography is by Girish J Jambhalikar and Kunal Shrigondekar. The film stars Reena Jadhav, Mangesh Naik, Aditya Singhal, Mahesh Ghag, Bahar Ul Islam and Bhagyarati Bai Kadam in various roles.

Actress and producer Reena Jadhav said, “The film is close to my heart. This is my first film as a producer and my comeback as an actress. The story of the film focuses on the pressing problems of the education process in our society. To fulfil their own dreams parents put burden on kids which is almost like a coercion. In this race,everyone wants to be on top but in the middle while they really ignore their present childhood. We have addressed this valuable thought through this cinema. We hope our film Merit Animals will prove to be an eye opener for our society.”

Reena Jadhav further adds, “My character in the film is Meera who is a simple village lady who has to work hard during the day along with her husband and is an emotional character. Playing a rural character while living in a metropolis has been very challenging for me.”
