For ‘Tumbbad 2’ , More Than 1600 Crew Members and Junior Artists Are Used!

Tumbbad 2 is already among the most eagerly awaited films, and the addition of Nawazuddin Siddiqui alongside Sohum Shah has only amplified the excitement and curiosity around the sequel. With Tumbbad, Sohum Shah delivered a cinematic masterpiece that gradually evolved into a cult phenomenon. Widely regarded as one of the finest folklore fantasy ever made, the film witnessed a massive resurgence during its 2024 re-release, eventually becoming the second highest-grossing re-released Indian film. This has only set strong grounds for Tumbbad 2, and ever since, anticipation for the film reached fever pitch, Sohum Shah’s announcement of the sequel further intensified audience excitement. Now, with the film officially going on floors, is been shaping up to be a massive cinematic spectacle with sets being mounted on an unprecedented scale with a huge resources put into work.

According to a source close to the production, the team is determined to create a fully immersive cinematic experience for audiences, pushing the scale and detailing far beyond conventional set pieces. “The makers have mounted one of the most elaborate unparalleled crowd-driven environments seen for an Indian film in recent years. Unlike never before happened for any other film, a gigantic amount of resources has been put into work, With nearly 1600 crew members and junior artists involved, making a massive sequence, designed in a manner to feel like a living and breathing marketplace instead of a usual controlled film set,” reveals the source.

The source further adds, “Given the colossal scale of the massive setup and the huge number of people involved, the makers have also installed over mammoth 1000 tons of air conditioning along with massive exhaust fans to ensure proper ventilation and maintain smooth functioning across the set. In order to facilitate such a huge requirements, the resources have to be brought from different places, vendors and cities. The idea is to make the world feel as authentic and immersive as possible while ensuring operational efficiency during the shoot.”

With this, Tumbbad 2 is mounting on an unprecedented scale that Indian cinema has never witnessed before. The lighting requirements were so massive that the team had to involve multiple vendors from across the city and beyond to meet the demands. This is where the world of Tumbbad 2 is shaping up on a prodigious scale, requiring an enormous amount of resources that cannot be fulfilled by a single source alone.

This is truly a never-seen-before attempt to create a folklore fantasy in India like no one has ever done before. Tumbbad 2 is surely set to establish a new benchmark in Indian cinema.

Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by actor-producer Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The film is directed by Adesh Prasad, who is helming the highly anticipated next chapter of the Tumbbad universe. Pen Studios, known for backing blockbusters like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi, joins hands to bring the film to life on a grand cinematic scale.
