Review: Chand Mera Dil: Addresses Young Married Couple’s Dilemmas!
Different generations react to love in different ways. Today’s Gen-Z views love very differently from previous generations. For many young people today, relationships are based more on emotional compatibility, freedom, and personal growth rather than only long-term commitment. Early breakups have become common because Gen Z believes it is better to move on than to stay emotionally stuck. Divorce is also viewed less as a social stigma and more as a personal choice when a marriage becomes unhealthy. While Gen Z believes in love, it also strongly believes in individuality, independence, and emotional well-being. Similar points of view form an important part of the newly released film Chand Mera Dil, directed by #VivekSoni.
Aarav (#Lakshya) is studying engineering in Hyderabad and he notices Chandni (#AnanyaPanday), who is also studying in the same college, and falls for her. Aarav is a shy person and tries to impress her by matching his shirts with her dresses. She too starts liking him, and soon the entire college treats them as the most loving couple. After becoming intimate, Chandni gets pregnant. They initially decide to go for an abortion, but Chandni later decides to continue with the pregnancy. Aarav tries to reason with her, pointing out that both of them are still students and their careers are yet to begin, but her adamant decision leads them to get married. Soon, real-life lessons begin for the very young couple, and a stage arrives where they head towards divorce. What happens later forms the crux of the storyline.
Written and directed by Vivek Soni (Meenakshi Sundareshwar, Aap Jaisa Koi), the film tries to delve deep into the psyche of a young married couple and is reasonably successful in doing so. However, the scattered screenplay causes the film to lose grip at places. The dialogues are good, and the music by Sachin–Jigar complements the mood of the scenes well. The technical aspects are impressive, and the cinematography beautifully captures the essence of Hyderabad. Lakshya delivers a sincere and heartwarming performance, proving that he can perform well beyond action roles too. He has given a solid performance. Ananya Panday is equally good and handles the emotional scenes with aplomb. The rest of the cast, including Manish Choudhary, provides good support.
Chand Mera Dil addresses the dilemmas faced by young married couples with sincerity.
