“Savitri Bai Jyotirao Phule” To Stream On ‘Marathi Varsha’ YouTube channel!
The television series “Savitri Bai Jyotirao Phule,” which won a place in viewers’ hearts in a short time, is now coming to audiences on a new platform. This series, which has found a place in homes across Maharashtra, will be available on the popular YouTube channel “Marathi Varsha” starting June 20.
“At no point in the history of Marathi television has a series returned in this form before. Our aim with this revival is to bring the Phule couple’s struggle for social reform, their revolution in education, and their message of equality to the next generation more effectively. This series is not just entertainment but a movement that raises social awareness and inspires people,” said Dr. Amol Kolhe at a press conference organized to announce the show’s digital relaunch.
Speaking further, he said, “The digital relaunch of ‘Savitri Bai Jyotirao Phule’ could serve as a model for many producers. This effort has received support from multiple levels, and numerous dignitaries and well-wishers have extended their good wishes. There is definite positive sentiment and excitement around the project. Digital platforms offer broader opportunities for expression and presentation, so we can convey the story to viewers in a more effective way. We also plan to raise this issue in Parliament in the future,” Dr. Kolhe indicated.
“For now, the series will premiere first on the popular YouTube channel ‘Marathi Varsha.’ We plan to expand gradually to other digital platforms. Each platform will have its own strategy, and decisions will be made at the appropriate time. We also intend to dub the series into five other major Indian languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English, and Bengali — to reach audiences across the country,” he added.
Noting that digital media reduce distance between artists and producers, Dr. Kolhe said, “We have launched an audition tab on our YouTube platform to provide opportunities to emerging and talented artists from across Maharashtra. This will allow artists to connect with us directly without any intermediaries.”
Emphasizing a commitment to creativity, he said the digital revival of the series underscores its importance and remarked that ‘Savitri Bai Jyotirao Phule’ is no longer just our series — it has become a series for all of Maharashtra. “With the aim of opening new avenues in Marathi entertainment for meaningful, people-centered content, we believe this initiative will inspire many creative experiments in the future,” Dr. Amol Kolhe concluded.
