Shilpa Thakre takes on a negative role for the first time in ‘Inspector Manju’!

Shilpa Thakre, who has largely been known for playing lead and positive roles in Marathi television, is set to explore a completely different space in her career as she takes on a negative role for the first time in Sun Marathi’s popular show Inspector Manju.

Shilpa will be seen essaying the role of Anushka Patil, a pivotal character whose entry is expected to bring a major twist to the ongoing storyline.

The actor had earlier won appreciation for her lead role in Sun Marathi’s Navi Janmen Mi. She has also worked in Marathi films such as Prema, Perfume and Triple Seat. Apart from Marathi projects, she has also been a part of the Hindi short film Summi and will soon be seen in the upcoming digital project The Chosen Family.

Talking about taking up a negative role, Shilpa said:

“After Navi Janmen Mi, audiences gave me a lot of love and accepted me in positive roles. So when I was offered a negative character, I was initially hesitant because I wondered whether viewers would accept me in this space. But Anushka is not just a villain—there’s pain, emotions and a big mystery behind her character. As an actor, I didn’t want to keep repeating myself, and that’s why I decided to take up this role.”

In the current track of Inspector Manju, Manju was posted in Satara to arrest Satya. However, things take an unexpected turn when she falls in love with him instead.

Anushka’s entry is now expected to add more drama to the storyline, as her character reportedly carries a mysterious past and a hidden motive.

With this role, Shilpa appears to be stepping out of her comfort zone and experimenting with more layered characters. It will now be interesting to see how audiences react to her new avatar in Inspector Manju, which airs daily at 8:30 PM on Sun Marathi.re
