Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar Joins Mohanlal’s ‘Operation Ganga’ as Military Adviser to Ensure Authentic Combat Sequences!

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming film Operation Ganga has generated strong anticipation, bringing together a powerful cast and an ambitious story rooted in one of the most significant rescue missions in recent Indian history. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan and produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies, the film is set against the backdrop of the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war.

The film is currently progressing with its shoot, with the makers bringing together credible expertise to add greater authenticity and scale to the project. Adding further authenticity to the film, Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar has joined the project as a military adviser, bringing his expertise to the combat manoeuvres and military sequences. Her involvement is expected to lend greater realism to the action and rescue operations, further strengthening the film’s portrayal of a high-stakes evacuation mission.

Set against the backdrop of the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war, the film draws from India’s Operation Ganga evacuation mission, which saw thousands of stranded Indian citizens, including students, brought safely back home from Ukraine. With its scale, subject and emphasis on authentic military detailing, Operation Ganga is shaping up as an intense big-screen story of courage, strategy and survival.

The film also boasts an extraordinarily talented team, making this project even more special. The technical crew includes cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, known for Pushpa 1 & 2; production designer Rajeevan, who has worked on GOAT, Meiyazhagan, Amaran, Kathanar; and action director Sea Young Oh, known for Dhurandhar and Kill.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies, Operation Ganga stars Mohanlal in the lead, with Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban and Adil Hussain in key roles. Music composer Shashwat Sachdev, following the success of the pan-Indian film Dhurandhar, is scoring Operation Ganga.

The crew also includes editor Shameer Mohammed, sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, known for Dhurandhar, Uri, 3 Idiots and Padmaavat, VFX supervisor K. V. Sanjit, known for Kantara, Military Advisor Sqn Ldr Varlin Panwar, known for Safed Sagar, Border 2, and Fighter. Loka Costume Director Melvy J, makeup artist Ronex Xavier, and production controller Rinny Divakar. The film is produced by Gokulam Gopalan, with Baiju Gopalan and V. C. Praveen as co-producers and Krishnamoorthy as executive producer.
