After debuting with #HrithikRoshan in #MohenjoDaro, actress #PoojaHegde took a while to do another #Hindifilm. “I was getting offers after Mohenjo Daro but nothing was worthwhile and I didn’t want to do something for the heck of it. I hail from an academic family and do not have any filmy connection and it makes difficult to get another film after your first film has not done very well. So I decided to wait. In the meanwhile, #SouthIndianfilmindustry embraced me warmly. I always wanted to be a Hindi film heroine, so I returned with #Housefull4 which I enjoyed doing. In fact after that Sajid (Nadiadwala) sir offered me ‘#KabhiEidKabhiDiwali with Salman (Khan) sir. So I am glad I did Housefull”, Pooja Hegde said while interacting with Mr #KeertiKadam. Talking about working in Hindi as well as regional languages Pooja opined, “I want to an Indian actor. I do not want to be limited by languages. When you speak in your fans’ language there’s an instant connect. If I say a few lines in Gujarati or Telugu people immediately get connected. I have no qualms in doing other language films. I am prepared to do a Marathi film even if it’s a low budget film provided script is fantastic.”
Pooja Hegde will be seen romancing Pan-India star Prabhas in an upcoming film ‘Radhe Shyam’. It has astrology in the centre of it. Talking about astrology Pooja commented, “I believe in astrology. There’s science behind it. It’s an ancient science prevalent for thousands of years. For example Saturn was termed ‘Langda’ by our ancestors. After years when telescope was invented it was found out that Saturn wobbles while rotating. But out ancestors had predicted that when there were no telescopes. So I believe one can use this science to uplift one’s life. I have taken a few decisions after consulting astrologers. But I also believe in hard work.” Pooja plays Prerna in Radhe Shyam and says that her character in the film is strong but complex. She admires Gal Gadot for doing Wonder Woman and Angelina Jolie, despite being beautiful, doing skilled action scenes. She too wants to do an action film in future.
Talking about chemistry with co-actors Pooja Hegde says, “I think chemistry just happens, maybe god instills that in you. People tell me that I always had a great on-screen chemistry with all my costars. For chemistry some magic has to happen and as I love love, maybe that helps in creating magical chemistry.” Radhe Shyam was launched about 4 years back and due to the pandemic had to postpone shoots, release dates. She feels that in those 4 years she has grown as an actor. Two film old in Hindi film industry Pooja wants to work with choicest of directors like Raju Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Meghana Gulzar, Zoya Akhtar, Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, Vasan Bala, Sujit Sarkar and many more. Whether she felt overshadowed by ‘Bahubali’ Prabhas’ presence on the sets, Pooja matter of factly said, “I think god has been preparing me for this. I was made to dance alongside Hrithik Roshan and Allu Arjun. In my first Ad I was with Ranbeer Kapoor. So I was all prepped to shoot with Prabhas. And I think that one should motivate oneself. Also I did study the character, read a lot and did not pressurise myself while shooting.”
Pooja doesn’t believe in remakes of classics. She believes that they should not be touched. Talking about criticism Pooja says that she is her biggest critic and cinema, despite languages, should be celebrated.
