Sharing her experience of the film’s global release, Taapsee Pannu said, “Release week is very stressful, especially when you know your film is releasing across the entire world at the exact same time. There’s no competition here over screen counts or show timings. The film is on the platform, and people are free to watch it. If they like it or hear good things about it, they tune in. Naturally, every single day becomes nerve-wracking. Over the last two nights, I haven’t even been able to sleep properly, trying to figure out how many people are watching and how to gauge its success.

And now, I just couldn’t hold back. I simply had to share this moment of joy with all of you. As of yesterday, it looks like Gandhari is trending at No. 1 in 8 countries—India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius. Meanwhile, in Kuwait and Nigeria, it is sitting at No. 2.

But it doesn’t stop there. What brings me the greatest happiness is that right now, we are trending at No. 4 worldwide—within just three days of release! The film dropped on the 3rd, and today is the 5th, and we found out that we are No. 4 across the entire globe.

The sheer number of countries where we are trending is truly mind-blowing. Right now, we are trending in 41 countries. And some of these places are names I can barely pronounce correctly! There’s a country called Guadeloupe—I’m sure I’m saying it wrong—where on September 4th we were trending at No. 10, and within a single day, we jumped up to No. 5.

I don’t think there are many Hindi speakers in that region, which makes this feeling so deeply fulfilling. Besides that, the film is trending across so many other countries—Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, and South Africa. And in the UK, it appears to be trending at No. 6.

All of this is completely overwhelming for me. Then there’s Martinique—on the 4th we were at No. 9, and yesterday we reached No. 4. I didn’t even know about this country before! Now I actually need to pull up a map to see where it is, because I definitely want to visit now.

Thank you so much. Thank you all for so much love. You know, in Luxembourg too, it is trending at No. 8. Okay, I’m getting a bit emotional now, because when we made this film, we felt it was a very rooted story. We thought that perhaps only people in India or Indian audiences would fully relate to this world, this culture, and the narrative, because it is so deeply tied to our roots.

Yet, in just 3 days, it is trending in over 40 countries. I don’t even know how to process this. It will probably take me an entire day just to take it all in. But thank you all so very much. You have made this weekend incredibly special for me. This Janmashtami is going to be one of the most memorable Janmashtamis of my life. Thank you so much. Yay!”

This global acclaim for Gandhari stands as a major milestone for Taapsee Pannu. For a film that the actress considered deeply rooted in Indian culture, the love pouring in from viewers around the globe proves that meaningful and impactful storytelling transcends all borders. As the film continues its international momentum, its global presence keeps growing, making this Janmashtami particularly special and unforgettable for Taapsee.
