‘Maharashtra Epstein Files’ aims to spotlight one sensational case that rocked Maharashtra!
Incidents from real life often leave a lasting impression on cinema, and filmmakers frequently use the medium to bring hidden truths into the open. Many hard-hitting films inspired by true events and controversial cases have exposed unsettling realities and raised questions about institutions and those in power.
The newly announced Marathi film Maharashtra Epstein Files aims to spotlight one such sensational case that rocked Maharashtra. The project was introduced with an arresting motion poster, and the producers have set the release date for October 2, 2026, across the state.
The motion poster was shared on social media, announcing the film presented by Jain Film Production and Matoshree Entertainment World.
Producers Devendra Bhat, Suryakant Bhunde, and Prashant Kadampure are backing the project, while director Swaroop B. Sawant tackles this bold, reality-based subject.
Its tagline — “Now everything will be exposed…!” — suggests the film will reveal startling truths and name powerful figures. The specifics of the revelations will remain concealed until the film’s release, but the narrative promises to unmask several individuals who have maintained respectable public facades. Central to the story is a figure called “Captain Bhondu Baba.”
The poster shows a mysterious man seen from behind, clutching bundles of ₹500 notes. Clad in kurta-pyjama and a coat, he projects the image of a respectable gentleman. Yellow crime-scene tape encircles him. On the wall ahead are photographs labeled with question marks; one reads “Nashik” and another “Bhondu Baba.” Nearby on a table sit a copper water jug and vessel on one side, and books, a cup of tea, plus a jar labeled “Elish Honey” on the other. Marathi viewers familiar with recent controversies will likely infer which “Captain Fraud Baba” and which “Epstein Files” the film appears to reference.
Details of the plot remain confidential for now, and the cast list has not been revealed. Filming is expected to commence shortly. The story is penned by Sagarkumar S. Jain, with screenplay and dialogues by Sanjay Navgire. Akash Kakade is the director of photography, Akshay Ambekar leads art direction, and Akanksha Gandhi handles costume design. Sachin Ghanwant is the production head, and Neha Ghodke is the production controller.
